This guide walks you through the recommended Adobe Premiere Pro 26 settings for the smoothest performance on your CREE8 cloud workstation. It only takes a few minutes — work through each step and match your screen to the screenshots.
Before you start: Clear your Premiere Pro cache
Make sure Premiere Pro is fully closed. Then open the Premiere Pro app while holding down
Shift + Cmd on your keyboard.
Keep both keys held down until Premiere has finished opening. If a small confirmation box appears, that is normal — confirm it to finish clearing the cache. This wipes out old cache files that can cause glitches and slowdowns.
Open your settings
With Premiere Pro open, click Edit at the top of the screen, then Preferences. A window opens with a list of categories down the left side — you will work through several of these below.
1. Audio
In the left-hand list, click Audio.
Turn ON (add a checkmark):
Generate waveforms automatically during import
Generate waveforms and conform audio using multithreading
Render audio when rendering video
Leave OFF: Auto-tag audio types in the timeline
💡 Why this helps: Your sound loads quickly and plays back smoothly.
2. Audio Hardware
In the left-hand list, click Audio Hardware.
Set Default Input to No Input.
💡 Why this helps: This stops Premiere from looking for a microphone it does not need.
3. Media
In the left-hand list, click Media.
Leave OFF: Include captions on import
💡 Why this helps: This keeps your imports fast and free of extra clutter.
4. Media Analysis & Transcription
In the left-hand list, click Media Analysis & Transcription.
Leave OFF (no checkmark):
Analyze all imported media to search for visuals or audio
Automatically transcribe clips
💡 Why this helps: This stops Premiere from running slow background tasks you do not need.
5. Media Cache
In the left-hand list, click Media Cache.
Check both location boxes — Media Cache Files and Media Cache Database. They should both point to the same X:\ drive folder (for example, x:\ADOBE_CACHE\). Make sure they match.
💡 Why this helps: This keeps Premiere's temporary files together in the right spot so your workstation stays fast.
6. Memory
In the left-hand list, click Memory.
Find RAM reserved for other applications and set it to 12 GB.
💡 Why this helps: This gives Premiere plenty of power to run smoothly.
7. Playback
In the left-hand list, click Playback.
Leave OFF (no checkmark):
Enable Mercury Transmit
Disable video output when in the background
💡 Why this helps: Mercury Transmit sends video to external monitors and hardware. Since your CREE8 workstation runs in the cloud, leaving both unchecked keeps playback smooth and glitch-free.
That is everything. Once your screen matches the screenshots, you are all set and ready to edit.
