Adding a workstation in CREE8 is quick and simple. Workstations are your virtual computers in the cloud, tailored to handle your creative needs, whether it's general tasks, 3D rendering, or video editing. Follow the steps below to set up a new workstation.
Steps to Add a Workstation
1. Log In to Your CREE8 Account
Start by logging into your CREE8 Workspace using the Desktop App or Web Browser using your credentials.
2. Open the Workstations Section
From the left-hand menu, select
Workstations.Click New Workstation on the right to start the setup process.
3. Select Your Region ( This step does not appear - omit?)
The region for your workstation was selected during initial account sign-up. You must still select this region to proceed.
4. Customize Your Workstation / Choose Machine Image
Machine Image: Choose from pre-configured setups with essential tools and software.
Need something different? Contact support for custom options.
Machine Size: Pick a size that fits your needs:
8 vCPUs 32 GB RAM
16 vCPUs 64 GB RAM
32 vCPUs 128 GB RAM
For GPU processors, select based on the complexity of your tasks.
Root Disk Size: This is your (C:) Drive, used for your operating system and workstation applications. You can choose between 150 GB or 200 GB of storage.
💡 Tip: It is best to save your files in your shared storage or Projects instead of on your C: drive so they can be accessed from any workstation.
5. Name Your Workstation
Give your workstation a unique name for easy identification.
Use a naming convention like "WS-Edit-01" to keep things organized, especially if you’re managing multiple workstations.
Select the Workstation Group that you would like to use.
💡 Tip: Groups are a way of organizing your workstations. For instance you could have a group of VFX workstations and a group of EDIT workstations. Contact Support if you would like to create a custom group.
6. Review and Confirm
Double-check your selections.
When ready, click Continue to finalize the setup.
Your workstation will appear in your Workstations panel with a purple "Building..." label. Once it’s fully operational, the label will update, letting you know it’s ready to launch. During this process you will see the workstation turn to green and then shut down. After it is done shutting down it will be ready for use.
How to Remove a Workstation
If you no longer need a workstation, follow these steps to remove it:
Go to the Workstations page.
Click the circle with three dots in the lower right-hand corner of the workstation you want to delete. This will reveal a drop-down menu.
Select Delete Workstation
Confirm the deletion on the next screen. You may cancel instead if need be.
⚠️ Note: Once deleted, all workstation data will be permanently removed. Be sure to back up anything important before proceeding.
