DaVinci Resolve includes built-in LUTs for a variety of camera profiles and film-style looks, making it easy to both correct and stylize footage quickly. It also supports importing custom LUTs, and lets you save full grading setups as reusable presets (PowerGrades), creating a streamlined, consistent color workflow.
Adding Custom LUTs to DaVinci Resolve
Step 1 β Locate the Color Page
Navigate to the Resolve Page Bar and click on the Color page icon.
Step 2 β Access the LUTs Tab
In the upper-left corner of the screen below the menu bar, you'll see an icon labeled LUTs. If it is greyed-out, click the icon to open the LUTs tab.
Clicking the LUTs icon will reveal a list and thumbnail view of your available LUTs.
Step 3 β Add Your LUTs to Resolve's LUT Directory
It is very common for productions to create and provide their own custom LUTs for editors and colorists to use. Here's how to add those custom LUTs to DaVinci Resolve.
To easily locate where the DaVinci Resolve LUTs are stored, right-click on any of the listed LUTs in the panel and choose Open File Location. You can also find this option when you right-click on any LUT thumbnail.
2. Once File Explorer opens to reveal the location, you can easily navigate to the main LUT directory by clicking on LUT in the File Explorer pathway bar.
3. You will then see the directory where all the LUTs are stored for DaVinci Resolve. You can then create your own LUT folder. Make sure to give it a name that is clear to yourself and other users who may need to use the LUT(s).
3. After creating the folder, drop your .cube or .3dl files into it.
Most LUTs come in:
.cube(standard).3dl(less common).look (Adobe Premiere Lumetri Color)
Step 4 β Access LUTs in the Color Page
Return to DaVinci Resolve and navigate to the LUTs panel as before. Right-click on the LUTs folder at the top of the list and select Refresh.
2. The list will now update and your Custom LUT folder will be added.
