Overview
Following the CREE8 4.6.0 update, which includes HP Anyware some macOS users may experience keyboard input issues or changes to multi-monitor behaviour. This article covers the most common issues and how to resolve them.
1 — Grant Accessibility Permissions (fixes keyboard issues)
After updating to CREE8 v4.6.0, both the CREE8 app and PCoIPClient need to be allowed in macOS Privacy & Security settings for keyboard input to function correctly.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
Check that both CREE8 and PCoIPClient appear in the list
If either app is listed, try toggling it off and back on to refresh the permission
If an app is not listed
Click the + button at the bottom of the Accessibility list to add it manually:
CREE8 — found in your Applications folder
PCoIPClient — if you haven't downloaded it separately, go to the Workstations page in CREE8 and download the Software Client that matches your OS. Alternatively, you can locate PCoIPClient inside the CREE8 app package by clicking + in the Accessibility list, pressing Command + Shift + G, and navigating to:
/Applications/CREE8.app/Contents/Resources/pcoip_osx/— then select PCoIPClient
2 — Multi-Monitor Behaviour
PCoIP v25.06.2 onwards no longer passes Mac keyboard shortcuts (such as Cmd + Tab) through to local applications when in fullscreen. To switch between your local Mac and your CREE8 workstation across multiple monitors, use Mission Control:
Enter fullscreen across all monitors by going to the PCoIP menu bar and selecting View → Fullscreen All Monitors
Press F3 to open Mission Control — it will appear across the top of all monitors
Roll your mouse over any screen and select Desktop to jump back to your local Mac on that monitor
When you're ready to return to CREE8, press F3 again and select PCoIPClient
This is particularly useful with three monitors — you can work locally on one screen while your CREE8 session continues across the other two.
3 — F3 Key Not Working
Some Mac external keyboards treat function keys as media/special keys by default, which means F3 may not trigger Mission Control as expected.
You have two options:
Option A: Hold fn and press F3 at the same time
Option B: Disable the function key override so F3 works without a modifier key:
Go to System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts and ensure the Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys toggle is disabled
4 — Mac CMD Key Not Working Inside the Session
If keyboard shortcuts using the Cmd key aren't working inside your CREE8 session, check two things:
Confirm that PCoIPClient is enabled in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility (see Step 1)
In the CREE8 dashboard, ensure that Enable Cmd Key is selected for your workstation — this maps the Mac Cmd key correctly within the PCoIP session
5 — Restore Local Mac Shortcuts (Screenshots, App Switcher)
By default, PCoIP captures all keyboard input, including shortcuts like Cmd + Tab (app switcher) and Cmd + Shift + 4 (screenshot). You can change this behaviour using a Terminal command on your local Mac.
Note: This change is reversible and only affects your local user account. No IT administrator action is required.
Quit PCoIPClient
Open Terminal and run the following command:
defaults write "com.teradici.Teradici PCoIP Client" mac_capture_all_keys -bool false
Reconnect to your workstation via PCoIPClient and test with Cmd + Tab or Cmd + Shift + 4
Once applied, Mac shortcuts will pass through to your local Mac, and you may no longer need to use the Enable Cmd Key setting in the CREE8 dashboard.
To revert this change at any time, run:
defaults write "com.teradici.Teradici PCoIP Client" mac_capture_all_keys -bool true
